Sony developing hack-proof PlayStation 3?

Sony has been working on a hack-proof PlayStation 3, according to a report.

Sources have told Everything HQ that the platform holder will release a system with improved security features after the console was hacked last month.

The model will reportedly be a slim-line, 300GB SKU with a reduced price point of £186.99 to incentivise players to purchase to new system.

Existing models on store shelves will be given price drops to make way for the more secure console.

Sony has yet to comment on the rumour.

UK gov reconsidering gaming tax breaks?

The UK government will introduce tax breaks for the games industry next month, according to a report.

Sources have told The Sunday Times (viaDevelop) that chancellor George Osbourne has been considering the move as part of "an eye-catching measure to put in his Budget for growth".

It has been suggested that next month's Budget will include £30 million of tax relief. While the figure is far less than the £100 million trade association TIGA had suggested, UKIE has said that the move is a welcome one.

"[It's] a sign that the government is taking the games industry seriously," said director general of games Michael Rawlinson.

"The government is seriously looking for initiatives that support Britain's creative industries, and the games industry is an important one for them."

TIGA succeeded in convincing Labour to introduce a tax credit in March 2010 before it wasscrapped by the coalition government in the emergency Budget.

A spokesperson for the Treasury has declined to comment on the rumour.
